Ten members of the Australian Council of Superannuation Investors (ACSI) have been named in the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) Leaders’ Group for 2019.
Australian ACSI members – Cbus, First State Super, HESTA, Local Government Super, VicSuper and Vision Super, and international ACSI members – ABP (part of APG Asset Management), CalPERS, New Zealand Superannuation Fund and Universities Superannuation Scheme, are among the 47 asset owner signatories named in the Leaders’ Group.
ACSI CEO Louise Davidson congratulated the ACSI members on their achievement saying, “This acknowledges that ACSI members are global leaders when it comes to incorporating environmental, social and governance considerations into their investment strategies.”
The PRI is an international network of investor signatories and proponent of responsible investment, supported by the United Nations. The Leaders’ Group showcases PRI signatories that demonstrate a breadth of responsible investment excellence and excel in the nominated theme, which was ‘selection, appointment and monitoring of external managers’.
More than 20 per cent of those named in this year’s Leaders’ Group are ACSI members and over 12 per cent are Australian asset owners.
Davidson said, “This is a strong acknowledgment of the work Australian asset owners are doing to protect and enhance long-term investment value by promoting sustainable value creation in companies and financial markets.”
