Correction – ASX Corporate Governance Council

The ASX Corporate Governance Council has confirmed that the 5th Edition of the Principles will not proceed at this time.

We have seen several issues misreported over the last week relating to ACSI and its role on the ASX Corporate Governance Council.

Firstly, it has been published that ACSI has threatened to “quit” the ASX Corporate Governance Council. We have refuted this claim as it is false. ACSI has never threatened to leave the Council, and it is not a position that the organisation has held.

Secondly, there has been reporting that ACSI supported a change to the Principles that would require individual directors of listed entities to report their personal characteristics such as sexuality and ethnicity. This is not ACSI’s position and nor did the Council propose this.

ACSI sought corrections from the AFR following initial publication of statements.
