The Australian Council of Superannuation Investors (ACSI) acknowledges the passing of pioneer and advocate for gender equality in Australia, The Honorable Susan Ryan AO.
ACSI CEO Louise Davidson recognised the significant role Ms Ryan had in advancing gender equality and women’s role in the workforce, as well as her advocacy for older Australians.
“I am terribly sad about Susan’s death. Australia has lost a very important leader and advocate for women’s rights and equality.
“As a Cabinet Minister, Susan’s commitment to gender diversity and equality led to the introduction of the Sex Discrimination Act 1984, the Equal Employment Opportunity Act 1987 and the Affirmative Action Act 1986. The lasting impact of these reforms will benefit generations of Australian women.”
“Along with her role as CEO of the Association of Superfunds of Australia (ASFA), Susan spent her career improving the lives of working Australians and their retirement.”
“Susan leaves behind a legacy that her family and all Australian’s can be proud of. We pass on our condolences to her family and friends.”
